Gift Card Holder

This is one of the projects the card makers made at Donna's workshop on Saturday.  Donna wanted to use the In Colors and I was HAPPY too!

This is the front of the gift card holder.  The Bermuda Bay piece is embossed with the Finial Press Embossing Folder.  I just LOVE these embossing folders!  The stamp set used is Razzle Dazzle.  It is inked using sponge daubers and ink...I love the softness it gives!  I then added glitter to the image.

The "For You" is from the Great Friend Stamp Set and punched out using the NEW Modern Label punch...I have used this punch a lot.  I think it is my NEW favorite.  It is tied together using the Crushed Curry Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon.

Isn't it just the coolest idea?  My sister had made one at Kimberly Van Diepen's club meeting last December and I thought it would be perfect to do sometime at a workshop.  The opening for the gift card is made with the Word Window Punch and the 3/4" Circle Punch.  I added a couple of Mini Glue Dots to hold the sides together so the gift card wouldn't fall out  Yes, I earned this gift card a while ago from Stampin' Up! through their Great Rewards Program when you are a demonstrator.  You have to love free stuff!!

The dimensions are as follows:

Crushed Curry cardstock 4 ¼ x 11

          - Score at 2 ¾, 5 ½, 8 ¼ 

Kraft cardstock 4 ¾ x 6

Bermuda Bay cardstock 2 ¾ x 4 ½

Progressive Scrapbook Page

Today I had a GREAT workshop with a wonderful group of ladies.  A BIG thanks to Donna for having me in her home to show her friends all about stamping.  We had two different groups of stampers, we had a group of scrapbookers and a group of card makers and we were split into two different groups.  Tonight I am sharing with you the scrapbook page the scrapbookers worked on today. 

When I scrapbook, I LOVE to start with a 6x6 page and slowly ease my way into a 12x12 page by adding a 8-1/2x11 page in between.  This is a picture of my AMAZING upline, Kimberly VanDiepen.  It is us at convention right after I won that beautiful locket from Shelli Gardner.  Boy...did we have a great time together at convention! 

 

I used the Friendly Words Jumbo Wheel and inked it in VersaMark.  I then highlighted the words using the technique Poppin' Pastels.  It uses the Stampin' Pastels and it is one of my favorite uses for the pastels.  The Crushed Curry circle on the left of the picture is so you can pull it and Stampin' Up!'s Statement of the Heart is stamped inside on a piece of Kraft.  You could also put a picture or some journaling inside instead.  I saw this on one of the idea boards at convention and just had to try it out!

I then went to a 8-1/2 x 11 page, and this is my favorite part of this page.  It uses the Kind Thoughts Brocade Stencil that I am seriously IN LOVE WITH!  I used Crushed Curry, Bermuda Bay and Soft Suede with a Sponge Dauber to get the image on the page.  I then added a Build-A-Brad for the center.

At the bottom of the page is my sister, Amy, who wasn't able to attend convention with me this year because she is expecting in February...WHOO HOO.  I am so exicted!!  Her doctor didn't want her traveling so I took lots of pictures and called her frequently to make her feel like she was really there.  She is my BEST stamping buddy even though she lives in Colorado.  We send lots of pictures back and forth sharing our ideas.

The Whisper White Organza Ribbon is died using Soft Suede Ink.  This ribbon dies so easily and beautifully with a sponge and ink pad.  I then used the Lots of Tags Die for the bottom layer of the Friends tag.  The Friends saying is punched out with the Wide Oval Punch and fits perfectly.  The Bermuda Bay piece is cut out using the Top Note Die.  I trimmed the Top Note down about 3/4 of the way down to just give the bottom of the page a little something.  So the ladies left today with the 8-1/2 x 11 page finished but I of course had to show them how to layer it on to a 12x12 page.

 

On the left I added a square for journaling and a square for another picture.  The picture is of my AWESOME friend Sue Lammers from South Dakota.  I met her on the plane ride to convention last year and we have stayed in touch ever since.  That is one of the reasons I LOVE convention...you get to see all of your friends year after year...it is like a reunion!  But better!! :)

I also stamped the brocade from the stamp set Friends 24-7 along the side just to add a little.

Stamp-A-Stack Share

This is one of the cards we made at my recent Stamp-A-Stack.  The card uses the Great Friend stamp set and is one of my favorites.  I found this similar layout at convention on one of the showcase boards.  It is nice they have these boards for us at convention showing us hundreds of ideas and we always bring our cameras!

This card demonstrates a lot of the tearing technique.  This technique is SO easy to do and it reallys adds a speical touch to a card.  The DSP is our Raspberry Lemonade Designer Series Paper.  This paper coordinates perfectly with our new In Colors and the Razzle Dazzle stamp set.

The ribbon is our new 1/2" Polka-Dot Grosgrain Ribbon in Rich Razzleberry.  The polka dots are on the other side.  It is great having solid on one side so you can choose.

Medallion Club Card

This is one of the cards my ladies made for club this past week.  It uses the wonderful new background stamp Medallion.  I received the inspiration for this card from Sandi MacIver but changed it up.  I've REALLY tired to like and use Cameo Coral more but I just...can't.  So I used my yummy favorites, Bermuda Bay and Soft Suede. 

 

I stamped the Medallion three times, twice with Soft Suede and one with Bermuda Bay.  I used the 1-3/4" and 3/4" circle punches for the Soft Suede layering.  The "Wishes" is from Fundamental Phrases and is punched out using the Modern Label punch.  I sponged and used a Clear Rhinestone Brad for the center.  This card is 5x5 in size.

Now off to cut some paper for my Stamp-A-Stack on Monday night.  Hope you are enjoying your weekend.

A VERY special prize

During General Session at convention, Shelli Gardner (Co-Founder of SU!) was presenting to all of us "Gift & Gift Giving Ideas".  She came on stage carrying many decorated boxes and shared her ideas with all of us.  This is ONE of my favorite parts of convention...of many :)

There were many holiday gift giving ideas and we all "Oooo and Ahhhed" over.  The very last box she shared with us was a new collection called "Simply Adorned" from the upcoming Holiday Mini Catalog.  This is a exlusive line of charms and chains SU! will be offering starting with the mini catalog.  These Simply Adorned Charms come in 3 different sizes and are a locket-style charm with hinge that allows custom artwork to be easily inserted.  So, yes, we can now stamp and then insert the cardstock into the locket and wear it around.  We can make different styles and colors and switch them out to coordinate with the outfit you are wearing.  We are even selling a coordinating stamp set called "Charming" to help you get started.

At covention there were 3,000 demonstrators attending.  At a surprise notice, we have Prize Patrol come around and give away prizes if your wristband you received when you checked in matching the wristband they announce.  Shelli decided to give away 130 of these special lockets that she made and yes....personalized with her signature on the back!

And guess what...

 

I WON one!!!! 

The yellow circle wristband was the winner!  This is the best gift they've ever given out (at least I was told-since it is only my second convention).  It will be something I wear to each event and cherish forever.  As many of you know I am not a huge jewelry fan so I wasn't as excited about it when I first saw the Simple Adorned Line, but I AM NOW!!!  This is my AWESOME upline Kimberly Van Diepen putting the locket on me shortly after I won! 

By the way...Kimberly is #2 demonstrator in the WHOLE SU! company and also on 2009-2010 Advisory Board!!  I am so excited for her and I am SO happy to be part of her team.  She has been a great inspiration and I had a blast with the Stampin by the Sea team during convention.  They made my friend Sue & I really feel welcomed.

Convention Bag Tag

When demonstrators attend convention, we always receive a bag when we check in.  In the bag is our catalog, information, schedule, and free stamp sets.  Of course all 3000 demonstrators get one and they are all exactly the same.  So a lot of demonstrators make bag tags to make it easier for them to identify theirs.  This year I made a tag for myself and my roommate Sue Lammers.  I met Sue last year at convention on our plane ride to Salt Lake.  We have keep in touch ever since and roomed together this year.  That is one wonderful thing about convention.  The friendships you make last FOREVER and it is great to share such a great 5 days with them every year.  It really is a reunion!

 

So here is the tag I made.  It uses the Scallop Circle #2 Die cut out with the Big Shot using chipboard.  The Big Shot really did cut through this chipboard like water, it was great!  I then sponged using Chocolate Chip Classic Ink all over both sides of the chipboard.  I then used Stencil paste to add the Kind Thoughts Brocade Stencil image over the chipboard.  This stuff is awesome.  This is the first time I used the paste and it was SO easy...of course my AWESOME upline Kimberly Van Diepen has a video tutorial on her blog on how to apply it.  You can check it out here:  http://stampinbythesea.com/its-here-its-here  The video is a HOOT!  She did do a great job!   After drying for a little over an hour, I sponged Melon Mambo over it and then added glitter with the Two Way Glue Pen.  I then cut out the "S" with the Serif Essentials Alphabet Die with the Big Shot twice.  Once with chipboard and the other with Melon Mambo card stock and adhered them with Crystal Effects.  I then textured it with the Stampin' Up! Backgrounds 1 Texturz Plates, again using the Big Shot!  I really can't live without it!  I added some pretties and sponged the "S" and then used the Crop-A-Dile to put the hole in and then added the Jumbo Brad.  Tied on some ribbon and Done!  Besides waiting an hour for the stencil paste to dry it really was fast to make. 

Well, I have been busy organizing my things since returning home last night.  The kids were excited to see me this morning so I payed a lot of attention to them and even snuck in a 45 minute much needed nap while they were napping.  I will be sharing more with you this week so check back when you can!  I just love my new blog and I hope you do too!

Welcome!

Welcome to my new "Lakeshore Stamping" blog!  I am so excited for my new blog.  Yes, I did take the picture of the Lake Michigan lakeshore.  It is our Little Point Sable Lighthouse in Silver Lake.  I had lots of help from Austin, who was patient with my needs.  My page was set up by Michelle Laycock from Laycock Designs and of course she is the one who made my picture SO pretty!

Of course I can't have my first post without a little inspiration for you to enjoy.  This card is actually one of my favorites I have ever created.  It uses the new In Color Bermuda Bay with a few other favorites, Kraft and Chocolate Chip.  The "True Friend" is from the Simply Frienship Stamp Set, a great stamp set!  And the sponged image is a stencil out of our Decor Elements catalog.  It uses the small Kind Thought Brocade stencil.  It is so easy to use!  I just love the look.  I will be sharing more of these in the future.  

  

I also just returned from Stampin' Up!'s Annual Convention in Salt Lake City.  Acutally, I am in the airport waiting for my plane to board to head home.  I had a AWESOME time and I can't wait to share some specials and projects with you in the next few weeks.  I hope you are excited, I know I am!
