A fun day of stamping for a GREAT cause!

This past Saturday I hosted the first Stampin' for a Cure event here in Michigan.  My stamping friends (team members) will be hosting their 3rd annual event this October in Colorado Springs, CO.  We thought it would be a great idea to have one in as many states as we can.  I am looking forward to having another one in October and then every year in October to benefit Breast Cancer Awareness Month with the monies going to Susan G. Komen Foundation.

We raised $400 on Saturday to benefit Oceana County's Relay for Life event in July!  I had SO many wonderful helpers make this event a success, especially my Mom and sister, Amy.  Amy was busy creating cards with me and cutting paper and my Mom took care of stuffing all the cellophane bags and organizing all the people donating food and organizing kitchen help.  I couldn't have done it without them!  I may have to fly Amy back here in October to help again :)

Yes, someone got a hold of my camera...guessing it was Amy when I wasn't looking.  It actually looks like I was sleeping but if I ask Chris I am sure I was helping her with this great Tropical Party Card :)

This card was originally made by either Christy Schroeger, Cathy Casey or Kimberly Van Diepen at our team meeting in May. 

This card is a sneak peek from the new catalog that will be out on July 1st.  We changed the colors but loved this card and so did everyone who attended!

I love the stamp set Friends 24-7 this card uses and I haven't used it enough lately. 

We will be waling in Oceana County's Relay for Life on July 16-17 in memory of my Aunt, Jane Pearson who passed away last July from Breast Cancer.  This is her husband, Al, and her good friend, Georgia Coulier who put the team "Plain Jane" together.  We had a few Relay for Life information and fund-raising items at the event.  Georgia was nice enough to stay for the day and help promote these items.  Aunt Jane had to be there with us so we brought some pictures in of her to share with those who didn't know her.

I am already planning the next event in October...I can't wait.  A HUGE thank you to all of you attended that day.  I really appreciate you taking the time out of your busy summer day to come and help support the American Cancer Society!

Enjoying Family Time!

We've had an amazing 3 days at Disney World and it is coming to an end tonight.  One last round of fireworks in a little bit and one last 10:30 bedtime for the kids. Whew! They've been troopers despite the blazing hot weather here.  It will be a sad day for them when they have to say goodbye to Disney tomorrow.

It's been nice just having fun with the kids and of course having some fun myself too :)  We've enjoyed the pool these past few days too!  The kids also love water slides!

I did save a card to post while I was gone...it just didn't happen until tonight.  This is a card I made for two special stamping friends of mine who were going to receive this with a Stampin' Up! gift card from a friend of theirs.  I had fun making this for them...and I love these colors!

This uses a current Level 3 hostess set, Kind and Caring Thoughts.  The colors are Bermuda Bay, Certainly Celery and Soft Suede...a few of my favorites.

When I return home I will be busy putting the finishing touches on my Stampin' for a Cure event on Saturday.  I look forward to stamping with some old friends and making some new ones too!  Will post some pictures for you to see!

Stampin' for a Cure

A day of creative projects is planned for June 19 to benefit Relay for Life in Oceana County.  The six projects will use the latest stamping and scrapbooking supplies.  There will be a free luncheon for attendees and door prizes throughout the day. 

The event runs from 9:30am - 2pm (open house style) at St. Vincent's Catholic Church, 637 E Sixth Street, Pentwater.  Registration is $25 and will be donated to the Relay for Life in Oceana County.  Contact me to register or for more information.  Registration deadline is June 12.  Hosting this event is the "Plain Jane" Team in memory of my aunt, Jane Pearson.

More Summer Mini

Like I said...I can't get enough of this Summer Mini catalog.  This first card is made with my favorite stamp set in this catalog, Elements of Style.  I think I could use it on every card!  I've seen a lot of cards with this stamp set that will show the spotlight technique with circles.  I wanted something a little different than circles so I used a butterfly from our Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die to spotlight the flowers. 

I then used a blender pen with our classic ink Old Olive and Rose Red to color the flower in on the butterfly.  The little button is also something new and out of the Summer Mini, called Bitty Buttons.  They come in a pack of 64 and have four different shapes and are all clear.  We then also have a punch pack called Itty Bitty Shapes to match up with the buttons.  So I adhered the Bitty Button with a Mini Glue Dot to the Soft Suede circle from the punch pack.  These clear buttons are great and I love it that you can make buttons any color you want this way!

Ribbon is also fun to add to a card but I didn't want the traditional bow or knot so I decided to add this little ribbon ruffle.  I think it was just what the card needed along with the Bitty Button.  I just love these earth tone colors!!! 

The Tropical Party stamp set along with the Island Oasis DSP, both of course from the Summer Mini gets be in the mood for summer!  I used our Fresh-Cut Notes as the card base because I think this flower goes right along with the tropical theme!  I cut the side of the card about 3/8" and added a little strip of the DSP.  The great thing about these Fresh-Cut Notes is that the petals of the flower are die cut and punch out.  I think when you use the new Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder with Kraft cardstock looks just like a basket and I thought would look perfect on the backside of the card showing through the petals.  This card is simple and fast to make...just perfect for summer!

Some Summer Mini Ideas

I have really enjoyed our new Summer Mini catalog recently.  Last week I hosted a Stamp-A-Stack and all of the cards used a stamp from the new Summer Mini.  I had a wonderful time creating these cards.  I want to share a couple of the cards with you.

This card uses the cute stamp set Pedaling Past from the Summer Mini.  This is a great stamp set that can be used in many different ways.  I love these colors together, they are Old Olive, Very Vanilla, Soft Suede and Ruby Red.  Ruby Red is one of the colors that will be gone after June 30th because of Stampin' Up!'s color renovation, so stock up on some of your favorites before they are gone!

The next card uses the stamp set Watercolor Trio from the Summer Mini.  This is a nice set for summer with some great greetings.  This color combo came from a friend Terri Mongeon who shared a card with this set and colors.  The DSP in this card is Bella Bleu and it is one of my favorites, it goes great with Soft Suede and Kraft!  You will also see I used the Perfect Polka Dot Textured Impressions Folder (11733) from the Occasions Mini catalog and YES it is still available!!

I hope you had a great Memorial Day weekend.  We took the kids to Mall of America in Minneapolis and had a fabulous time.  They have a amusement park in the middle of the mall called Nickelodeon Universe and the kids LOVED it.  I am going to have some kids who love roller coasters...so I guess I will need to like the roller coasters again too! Oh Boy!
